random fun (october)

here's just a few random pics from the month of october that i just had to share!

here's charlie testing out the new tractor seat! as we suspected, this seat provided a great deal of entertainment for the girls before nick actually put it on the tractor! lol!

one morning we decided to attempt to make homemade donuts! it didn't seem all that difficult.....roll pieces of grands biscuits into balls, fry em up, and roll em in cinnamon & sugar! well, first of all, i didn't check the status of oil before we were ready.....the recipe said to use 2 cups of oil.....we were lucky to have 3/4 of a cup! whoops!! so i just used the smallest pot i could! then, i went to find a small circle cookie cutter.....sure enough, i don't have one that small! luckily i have an apple corer and that actually worked great! and then i had the grease way to hot and the first few donut holes were crispy on the outside and raw in the middle! oops! once the grease cooled off a bit, we tried again and it was much much better!!

here are the girls rolling the dough to make donut holes! they did a great job and had a lot of fun doing it!!

look out for officer charlie!!

my wonderful mother is so great (and patient) with the girls....she found these awesome monster cookies in a cookbook and made them w/the girls one day!! how fun and adorable!!

halloween fun

for halloween this year, haylie dressed up as pocahontas and charlie dressed up as princess jasmine!! i just love my girly girls!! this year they got to spend halloween trick or treating with their dad, but we still got to partake in some festivities!!

the girls asked me to come down to the boat club party, so i stopped down for a few minutes! they were having such a blast! i was able to snag them for this quick photo though!

on the saturday before halloween, we had a jam packed schedule! we started off the day by going to the parade in downtown lasalle with our friends, the meyer's! it was a bit chilly, but overall it wasn't too too bad! could have been a lot worse! and being in the sun certainly helped!
after the parade, many of the businesses downtown passed out candy to the trick or treaters, so of course we took part in that as well!!

after the lasalle fun, we headed back to the valley to pick mckenna up so she could come to the peru parade with us! she was just the cutest little pirate ever!!

we also caught up with some of our friends while we were waiting for the parade to start!
here's haylie with junior, nadia and leslie! charlie didn't want to be in the pic and alexis was all cozy in her stroller!

here's haylie with her friend neveah!

nick of course had to work the parade, but he was near the end so we caught up with him before we left!

mckenna loves her uncle nick.....most of the time! lol!

such a cutie!

then after the parades, the girls got out of their costumes and into some comfy clothes so we could go to a birthday party! and then after a couple hours of running around there, we headed to my parents house for dinner with them and matt! what a busy day! but it was a fun one!

of course we still had to carve pumpkins!!  on sunday, after we went to a bears party, we went home to carve the pumpkins.....our second batch since the squirrels decided to snack on our other pumpkins! grrr!!

i bought these cool sparkly peg things at target this year. i thought it would be good for the girls because they could hammer the pegs in and put the accessories on, instead of just watching us carve!

unfortunately i didn't read the instructions before we started.....i only bought one pack and there were only enough pegs in the pack for one pumpkin! and of course we were crunched for time! luckily charlie was ok with waiting to do hers until i had a chance to go to the store and get another pack! phew! crisis averted! (although i'm pretty sure i was more upset than the girls were! darn pregnancy hormones! little did we know that this would be our last weekend without baby jo!)

cleaning the slime out! yuuuummmmy!! ha! the girls were less than thrilled with this part of the process!

haylie hard at work, getting her kitty jack o lantern all dolled up!!

the finished product!

now it's charlie's turn!

just hammerin away!

so proud of her kitty jack o lantern!!

pretending she's got a pumpkin head! lol!

class party time!

i've said it before and i'll say it again....i'm so thankful to have a job and a boss that allow me to take time off to attend the girls' school functions!!

charlie's party

haylie and two of her friends from school....madison and brooke!

i couldn't let baby jo miss out on the halloween fun!! i made my giant belly into a jack o lantern!!

fun in the leaves

it seems like every year we get busier and busier! it's not just the holidays, or the weekends. it seems like every day we have so much to do and not enough time to do it. between work, school, after school activities and everything else, it's hard to find 'free' time! i try to just relax and enjoy life, but sometimes it's hard. but when we do just chill...it's a wonderful feeling!

we only got outside to rake leaves and play in them once this fall! luckily the weather was great and we didn't have to get bundled up in layers to do it! as you will see, the girls are in t-shirts and bare feet! haha!

our few trees in our backyard produced enough leaves that it only took me a few minutes to rake a big enough pile for the girls to play in! works for me! and they had a blast!! most of their time was spent sliding into the leaf pile! oh, to be young again!
