a daisy turns into a brownie

so, as i had mentioned before, haylie was a daisy this year, which is the first year of girl scouts! she absolutely loves it!! they do a lot of fun activities at their meetings and also go on some fun outings! their last outing before the end of the year was a second trip to liberty village in peru. the troop had went there before christmastime to decorate a tree and make cards for the residents! this time the girls brought over hand painted flower pots (that they had painted at a previous meeting) and planted flowers in them for the residents! they also colored pictures for them! the girls really enjoy doing this, and i'm sure the residents enjoy the company just as much, if not more!

here are the girls coloring some pictures for the residents to hang up in their rooms!

here's the whole gang - well, the whole gang that could make it that day - showing off their beautiful plants!

the final event of the year for the daisies was their bridging ceremony. this is the ceremony that "bridges" the girls from being a daisy to being a brownie! well, the date was set at may 31st at starved rock. it was going to be a very nice ceremony....nice scenery, nice weather, etc. well, of course that was the one day out of countless gorgeous days that was cold and rainy! go figure! so instead of the girls walking across the bridge up by the lodge, they walked under a limbo stick under a shelter! lol! hey, it works! and the girls didn't seem to mind!

it's hard to see here, but this is haylie 'limbo-ing' to become a brownie!

miss mindy and haylie saying the girl scout promise

miss lucy and haylie doing the same

miss mindy giving haylie her pin and certificate! haylie is officially a brownie now! yahoo!

abby g, abby b, jaycee, hannah, haylie, madison, emma and ella.....daisy....i mean BROWNIE troop #1415!!!

here is the awesome cake that miss mindy and miss lucy got for the girls to celebrate their accomplishments!! how adorable!!

haylie and her friend madison! madison was also in haylie's kindergarten class!
oh, and if you're wondering why haylie's cheek is puffy, it's because the day before the bridging ceremony, hayile got a nasty mosquito bite right under her eye, which swelled up the entire right side of her face! poor thing!

haylie with her haylie piece of cake! what a delicious end to a wonderful year of daisies!! not only did haylie get to do fun activities, visit fun places and sell girl scout cookies (she was the top seller in her troop too! go haylie!), she also made some wonderful friends and memories!! looking forward to many more in the coming years!

oh, and speaking of fun places to visit, back in april the girls took a tour of a bank, which all the girls seemed to really enjoy!! i had some pics on my phone that i forgot about but i wanted to share this one, cuz it's pretty cool! during their tour, the girls got to go in the vault! super cool! and they each had the chance to hold a stack of money.....10 thousand dollars!!!

haylie and 10G's!! :)

go daisies!! :)
