this year the girls were both in dance. last year it was just haylie, but this year charlie was able to get in too! they both absolutely love it! they love to dance and they love to dress up! so naturally they loved the recital! this year was a "big recital" meaning that it took place at the end of the year (memorial day weekend), there were more performances than at the holiday show, and the girls get to keep their costumes! the theme of this recital was "desination dance." the stage and props looked fantastic! they do such a wonderful job! and all of the performances were awesome! i just love watching the kids dance! the dance center sure does a great job all around!
of course, as soon as the costumes came in, the girls had to try them on!

on the first night of the performance, i watched from the audience! even though it was ridiculously hot, the 2 1/2 hour performance went by pretty quickly for me! i sure do enjoy watching all the kids dance! there's no flash photography during the performance, but i managed to get a few decent shots in!
the second day i stayed backstage as a room mom. it was chaotic, but overall pretty organized! we had a pretty calm group, and there's always a couple extra moms, so that helps too! it definitely seems a little longer in back, but at least we can talk and not get yelled at by the people behind us! lol!
alise's mom was nice enough to spray the girls with glitter for the sunday show! of course they loved this!! you can't really tell in the picture, but they're shimmery!

all in all, it was a lot of fun! stressful at times...yes. but certainly worth it in the end! i really hope they continue to do dance for many years to come! and if they move on from it, i still have hope for the baby! i already told nick that if we have a boy, and he wants to be in dance, we're gonna let him! the few boys in the recital were simply adorable! although....if it is a boy, and he's blessed with his parent's dance skills....we may have to rethink joining dance! hahaha!!
a big thanks to all of our family and friends that came out to watch the girls! it was on a holiday weekend for one, and it was hot hot hot! in that auditorium! the girls (and i) really appreciate everyone's support!!
